Wolvercote & Wytham Summer Festival 2023

Wolvercote & Wytham Summer Festival 2023

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of our annual local Midsummer Festival. At the beginning, events were limited to three days over one weekend in Wolvercote, but it soon became apparent that this was nowhere near long enough to accommodate all the fun things the committee had in mind, and it was stretched to its current ten days. Before long Wytham joined in too (2011), providing Wolvercote with a valued link to its sister village.

To get an idea of the many and varied activities that have taken place over the years, see the photo galleries through the years on Wolvercote and Wytham Midsummer Festival – Wolvercote.org.

Each festival has had a theme running through it, ranging from Woodlands, through Place and Space, to Common Ground, all interpreted in a variety of different ways. This year’s theme was Round the World, which offered scope for wonderful activities, not least the flag trail, musical offerings and children’s crafts and parade.

We were particularly thrilled to have proceedings at Fun on the Green opened by Rosalind Chaston (our very own Local Hero) and Andy Hodgson, who earlier in the year rowed unassisted 3000 miles across the Atlantic ocean. And they brought their boat along too!
