Wolvercote Commoners’ Committee

25 March 2023 Off By Nick Dunbar

We may be jumping the gun a little at the time of writing, but to quote LM Montgomery, “That is one good thing about this world…there are always sure to be more springs.”
While the Commoners’ Committee continues with its monthly work mornings throughout the year, things do start to get busier as the natural world awakens. Meeting at the Village Hall at 10a.m. on every second Saturday of the month, all are welcome to join in with the various tasks required to keep our common spaces maintained (Wolvercote Common, Wolvercote Green and Goose Green). Tea, cake and a warm welcome guaranteed!
For those with (ever so slightly) more time on their hands, the Committee does currently have space for new members. Monthly meetings cover a wide range of locally important topics and membership is a fantastic way to get involved with those things that make Wolvercote such a special place to call home. The AGM (on 26th April in the Village Hall)is the perfect opportunity for prospective new members to hear what we have been up to over the last year, our plans for the future, and to perhaps even introduce themselves with a view to election.
Pre-pandemic, the WCC ran an annual series of talks that we are now excited to be revitalising. While still a work in progress, the aim is to have a speaker at a village venue in the last week of every other month. 5 speakers have so far confirmed, largely but not exclusively with a natural history/local history bent.
Please keep an eye on the WCC Facebook page, the Wolvercote and Wytham Forum website and village noticeboards etc for further information. Again, a warm welcome and some form of refreshment guaranteed!
